Rom 4:13
It was not through the law that Abraham and his offspring received the promise that he would be heir of the world, but through the righteousness that comes by faith.
For athe promise to Abraham and his offspring bthat he would be heir of the world did not come through the law but through the righteousness of faith.
Οὐ γὰρ διὰ νόμου ἐπαγγελία τῷ Ἀβραὰμ τῷ σπέρματι αὐτοῦ, τὸ κληρονόμον αὐτὸν

εἶναι κόσμου, ἀλλὰ διὰ δικαιοσύνης πίστεως·
Rom 4:14
For if those who depend on the law are heirs, faith means nothing and the promise is worthless,
dFor if it is the adherents of the law who are to be the heirs, faith is null and the promise is void.
εἰ γὰρ οἱ ἐκ νόμου κληρονόμοι, κεκένωται πίστις καὶ κατήργηται ἐπαγγελία·
Rom 4:15
because the law brings wrath. And where there is no law there is no transgression.

For ethe law brings wrath, but fwhere there is no law gthere is no transgression.

γὰρ νόμος ὀργὴν κατεργάζεται, οὗ

δὲ οὐκ ἔστιν νόμος, οὐδὲ παράβασις.

Rom 4:16
Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham’s offspring – not only to those who are of the law but also to those who have the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all.
That is why it depends on faith, iin order that the promise may rest on grace and jbe guaranteed to all his offspringnot only to the adherent of the law but also to the one who shares the faith of Abraham, kwho is the father of us all,
Διὰ τοῦτο ἐκ πίστεως, ἵνα κατὰ χάριν, εἰς τὸ εἶναι βεβαίαν τὴν ἐπαγγελίαν παντὶ τῷ σπέρματι, οὐ τῷ ἐκ τοῦ νόμου μόνον ἀλλὰ καὶ τῷ ἐκ πίστεως Ἀβραάμ (ὅς ἐστιν πατὴρ πάντων ἡμῶν,
Rom 4:17
As it is written: ‘I have made you a father of many nations.’
Gen. 17:5
He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed – the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not.

Rom 4:18
Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, ‘So shall your offspring be.’

In hope he believed against hope, that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been told, qSo shall your offspring be.”
ὃς παρ᾽ ἐλπίδα ἐπ᾽ ἐλπίδι ἐπίστευσεν εἰς τὸ γενέσθαι αὐτὸν πατέρα πολλῶν ἐθνῶν κατὰ τὸ εἰρημένον· Οὕτως ἔσται τὸ σπέρμα σου·
Rom 4:19
Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead – since he was about a hundred years old – and that Sarah’s womb was also dead.
He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was ras good as dead ( ssince he was about a hundred years old), or when he considered tthe barrenness

Rom 4:20
Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God,
No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God,
εἰς δὲ τὴν ἐπαγγελίαν τοῦ θεοῦ οὐ διεκρίθη τῇ ἀπιστίᾳ ἀλλὰ ἐνεδυναμώθη τῇ πίστει, δοὺς δόξαν τῷ θεῷ
Rom 4:21
being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.

καὶ πληροφορηθεὶς ὅτι ἐπήγγελται δυνατός ἐστιν καὶ ποιῆσαι.
Rom 4:22
This is why ‘it was credited to him as righteousness.’
That is why his faith was “counted to him as righteousness.”

Rom 4:23
The words ‘it was credited to him’ were written not for him alone,
But zthe words “it was counted to him” were not written for his sake alone,
Οὐκ ἐγράφη δὲ δι᾽ αὐτὸν μόνον ὅτι ἐλογίσθη αὐτῷ,
Rom 4:24
but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness – for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.
but for ours also. It will be counted to us aawho believe in abhim who raised from the dead Jesus our Lord,
ἀλλὰ καὶ δι᾽ ἡμᾶς οἷς μέλλει λογίζεσθαι, τοῖς πιστεύουσιν ἐπὶ τὸν ἐγείραντα Ἰησοῦν τὸν κύριον ἡμῶν ἐκ νεκρῶν,
Rom 4:25
He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.

ὃς παρεδόθη διὰ τὰ παραπτώματα ἡμῶν καὶ ἠγέρθη διὰ τὴν δικαίωσιν ἡμῶν.
